猿を捕まえる / Catch Monkey
「猴膽麥走！」
隨處可見的徵信社廣告，為何總稱「抓猴」呢？說法有三：其一源自日治時期台人捕猴必斷其尾，使之不敢逃入山林，抓姦者則必割其髮以示懲罰；其二將「牽猴」耍猴戲引伸為不正常關係；其三因早期婦女多稱丈夫「老猴」，固有抓猴一詞。隨網路資訊發展，個人已越來越容易取得資訊。但早期徵信社除搜查功能外，或許更像一種地下心輔單位，托住不安家庭裡的無助靈魂。
どこに行っても見かける探偵社の広告、なぜいつも「猿を捕まえる」と呼ばれるのでしょうか？説には3つあります：一つは、日本統治時代に台湾人が猿を捕まえる際に尾を切り、山林に逃げられなくさせたため、浮気の相手を捕まえる人も髪を切り、罰を示す必要があったことから来たとされています。二つ目は、「猿をつないで遊ぶ」という意味の猿回しを、不正な関係に引き延ばしたものです。三つ目は、かつて女性が夫を「老猿」と呼んでいたことから、猿を捕まえるという言葉が生まれたとされています。インターネット情報の発展に伴い、個人はますます情報にアクセスしやすくなりました。しかし、初期の探偵社は検索機能のほかに、不安定な家庭の中で助けを求める人々の心のサポートを行う心理カウンセラーのような存在であった可能性があります。

Why do private detective advertisements in Taiwan always have the words "catch monkeys(抓猴)" on them? There are three theories: the first one originates from the Japanese colonial period. When the Taiwanese caught a monkey stealing fruit in an orchard, their tail must be cut off to prevent them from escaping to the mountains, while those who had an affair their hair must be cut off as a punishment; the second theory is that the "monkey holding(牽猴)” is extended to an abnormal relationship between men and women; the third theory is that in the early days of Taiwan, women often called their husbands "old monkey(老猴)”, so when a wife is going to ”catch” an husband who having an affair will be “catch the monkey”. Nowadays, with the development of Internet information, it has become increasingly easier for individuals to obtain information. But maybe in the early times, the private detectives may have been more like an underground consultation unit, supporting the helpless souls in troubled families.
