台灣獨特的手搖飲料文化，不但已深植在地人心，也讓外國旅客愛不釋手。每每出國後，回國第一件事就是直奔手搖店，來杯療癒滿分、家鄉味十足的珍珠奶茶。有趣的是，珍珠又有大、小顆之分，早期台灣南部習慣叫「波霸奶茶(大)、珍珠奶茶(小)」，北部統一叫「珍珠奶茶(須指名大珍珠或小珍珠)」，所以偶爾會發生想喝大珍珠而不小心點到小珍珠的糗事。
台湾独特のドリンクスタンド文化は、地元民の心に深く根付き、外国人旅行者にも手放せない存在となっています。海外旅行から帰国後、最初に向かう場所はドリンクスタンドで、ホッと一息つける、タピオカミルクティーを飲みます。面白いことに、タピオカには大きいのと小さいのがあり、台湾南部では「ボバミルクティー(大)、パールミルクティー(小)」と呼ばれ、北部では「タピオカミルクティー(大きいタピオカまたは小さいタピオカを指定する必要がある)」と統一されています。そのため、大きいタピオカを飲みたくて誤って小さいタピオカを注文してしまうというハプニングが時々起こります。

Taiwan's unique hand-shaken beverage culture has not only been deeply rooted in the hearts of the local people but it is also enjoyed by foreigners as well. After being abroad, the first thing to do when returning home is going straight to the hand-shaken tea store and order a cup of pearl milk tea filled with therapeutic hometown flavor. What is interesting is that the “pearls” are made in both large and small sizes. In the early days, southern Taiwan called large tapioca “boba,” and small tapioca “pearl.” However, in northern Taiwan, it was collectively called “Pearl" milk tea, boba sizes are specified during ordering. That’s why there are many silly moments of yearning for large pearls but instead accidentally ordering small pearls from time to time.
