戯台 / Stage

「戲如人生。」

戲如人生、人生如戲，在電視、電影尚未普及前，除了全家一同收聽ラジオ（收音機）外，廟口前的布袋戲演出，也是早年台灣生活老少咸宜的娛樂活動之一。操偶師活靈活現的演出技巧、隨著劇情高潮迭起，讓大人小孩看得目不轉睛。雖然現今在廟口前看布袋戲的人少了，但精緻華麗的戲台彩繪，也構成台灣城市、鄉村都有的庶民視覺印象。

テレビや映画が普及する前、ラジオを家族で聞く以外に、廟の前での布袋戲(ポテヒ)の公演も、かつて台湾の生活における老若男女が楽しんだ娯楽活動の一つでした。操り師の活き活きとした演技技術や、ストーリーの盛り上がりに合わせて続く様々なシーンは、大人も子供も見入ってしまいます。現代では廟の前で布袋戲を見る人は少なくなりましたが、精巧な彩色の戯台は台湾の都市や田舎に庶民的な視覚印象を残しています。

“One Show Resembles One Life.”

A show can resemble a life, and one life can be represented by one show. Before TVs and movies were popularized, many families not only got together to listen to radio shows but also gathered around in public squares wanting to watch Glove Puppetry Shows, which is one entertainment for all ages in early Taiwan. Puppeteers' vivid performances, with great dramatic tension, often made all eyes on the shows. Nowadays, although fewer people watch Glove Puppetry Shows in public squares, the shows' delicate and generous stages painted with multiple colors have created peasantry images in cities and countryside throughout Taiwan.
